Joseph Kruy Second at Nationals

July 3, 2007 -- Lisle, IL

On July 3rd, Joseph Kruy of the Nitehawks captured second place in the boys Youth (age 13-14) pentathlon at the 2007 USA Youth Outdoor Track & Field National Championships in Lilse IL.  He is a 13 year old resident of Sudbury and a seventh grader from Catholic Memorial Middle School.  Joseph scored 8 points for the Nitehawks Sports Club and set a Nitehawks Team record with 2,431 points. He ran 15.92 seconds in the 100 meter 33" hurdles, threw the 4Kg (8.8 lbs) shot put 38'-01.25", high jumped 4'7", long jumped 15'-3.25" and ran the 1500 meters in 5:15.8.

More than 2,000 of the nation's top youth track and field athletes competed in the 2007 USA Youth Outdoor Track & Field Championships. The competition was held July 3-8 at The Sports Complex on the campus of Benedictine University.

The Championships are a national competition with entry based upon qualifying standards for each event and has the same age divisions as the USATF Junior Olympic program. Bantam (10 and under), Midget (11-12), Youth (13-14), Intermediate (15-16) and Young Men/Women (17-18). The USA Youth Outdoor Championships are also scored for team championships in all age divisions and is a popular competition for clubs around the country.
