Nitehawk Brett Baker Sets Wayland Middle School Record

May 21, 2007 -- Dedham, MA

Brett Baker, an eight-grader at the Wayland Middle School, broke the Wayland Middle School record for the mile run in a dual meet against Dedham at the Northeastern University track on May 21.  His time of 5:01 bested the previous mark of 5:04 held by Brett Stein, now a junior at Wayland High School.

Brett Baker is undefeated this year running the mile in middle school dual meet competitions.  He was also undefeated in middle school cross-country meets last fall.  And, competing for the Nitehawks Sports Club, Brett made it to the AAU Junior Olympics Cross-Country National Championships in Orlando, Florida where he finished in 25th place.

Brett competed as a Nitehawk during the winter indoor track season, posting PRs of 4:48 in the 1500 meters, 5:11 for the mile and 10:26 in the 3000 meters.

He also plans to run with the Nitehawks for the summer track season, setting his sites on the Junior Olympics and the Bay State Games.
